In a generation that celebrates sexual freedom as the highest form of liberty, the Word of God still stands unmoved: “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication” (1 Thessalonians 4:3).Sexual purity is not a suggestion. It is a command. It is not about repression — it is about honouring the temple of the Holy Spirit and preparing a vessel fit for the Master’s use. In these last days, when sexual sin is normalised, digitised, and even celebrated inside some churches, the remnant must return to the ancient paths.
What the Bible Clearly SaysScripture is not silent or vague on this matter:1 Corinthians 6:18-20 — “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost… therefore glorify God in your body.”
- Hebrews 13:4 — “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
- Matthew 5:28 — Looking with lust is already adultery in the heart.
- Ephesians 5:3 — “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.”
God designed sex as a holy gift to be enjoyed only within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Outside that boundary, it becomes fornication, adultery, or other forms of uncleanness that defile both body and spirit.
Practical Call to PurityPurity is not only about “not having sex.” It includes:
- Guarding the eyes from pornography and sensual content
- Guarding the heart from lustful thoughts and emotional affairs
- Guarding the body from compromising situations and ungodly relationships
- Dressing and carrying oneself in a way that does not deliberately stir lust in others
- Waiting patiently for God’s timing in marriage instead of following the world’s pressure
- Young people, the pressure is real. Social media, music, movies, and even some “Christian” influencers push the lie that purity is impossible or unnecessary. But the same grace that saves is the grace that keeps. The Holy Spirit is able to keep you pure if you yield to Him daily.
Why This Matters in the Last DaysSexual sin is one of the major tools the enemy is using to destroy destinies, break families, and pollute the Church. Many who once burned for God have been sidelined because they refused to flee. The spirit of this age wants the bodies of believers so that their spiritual authority is broken.Yet God is raising a pure generation — young men and women who will not defile themselves, who will keep their garments white, and who will stand as lights in a dark world. Revelation 14:4 speaks of those who “were not defiled… for they are virgins” — a picture of spiritual and moral purity.
A Loving Warning and InvitationIf you have already fallen, there is mercy. The blood of Jesus still cleanses. Confess, repent, and receive restoration. Do not remain in the cycle of sin and shame. Rise up and walk in the newness of life.If you are still standing pure, guard your heart with all diligence. Do not become proud. Stay accountable. Stay in the Word. Stay in prayer. Surround yourself with people who fear God.Beloved, your purity is not just about you. It is about the glory of God in your generation. It is about the testimony of Jesus Christ. It is about being ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb.May the Lord sanctify you wholly — spirit, soul, and body — and preserve you blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23).Amen.
